Sunshine on My Skin is a piece inspired by one of my sweetest childhood memories.
A simple moment: one summer morning, just after waking up, I rush to open the door and am greeted by a wave of warmth from outside. A feeling of pure, innocent happiness, carried by the promise of a wonderful day ahead.
The vibrant colours of this memory play an important role in this painting. The movement of the marks conveys my feeling of excitement, while the soft purple touches evoke the comforting and reassuring presence of my mother, just behind me.
